I am a researcher at Colorado State University studying the drivers of plant community assembly in natural and restored or reclaimed wetlands and the effects of abiotic, biotic, and construction constraints on community structure and ecosystem function. I primarily study these topics in the boreal region of Alberta where reclamation solutions are required after oil sands mining. My work with Dr. David J. Cooper and colleagues contributes to the development of peatland reclamation methods that establish plants and initiate ecosystem processes comparable to natural analogues. My overall goal is to introduce practical strategies to reclaim wetlands in heavily impacted areas around the world.
